A message from Shruti Shanker, D.O.
I recently graduated from my residency training program in Austin, TX at Dell Children's Medical Center. Prior to my training, I attended medical school and graduated from Nova Southeastern University (Fort Lauderdale, FL) in 2010. I received my undergraduate education from the University of Florida, and graduated cum laude with a major in Nutritional Sciences. I have had a love for helping children since I was a teenager myself. My passion for volunteering in the pediatrics units of hospitals and my community service trips to Nicaragua, Peru and Ecuador helped me realize that I wanted to become a pediatrician. Keeping your kids safe and healthy, both physically and emotionally, is my goal as your child's doctor.
My specific interests include newborn medicine, developmental and behavioral disorders, and preventative care. I am also strongly passionate about nutrition and battling the childhood obesity epidemic. I try to use powerful motivational interviewing techniques with my patients to help them WANT to live a healthy lifestyle-rather than simply just telling them to "eat healthy and exercise."
I am looking forward to being a community pediatrician here in San Antonio, and thank you for letting me take care of your little ones.
